Since there was a war going on in New Spain and New France, New Mexico decided to take full advantage of it and New Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, a New Catholic Priest declared New Mexico's independence from New Spain in the small town of New Dolores.
Among the greatest heros of the New Mexico war for independence included Father New Jose Morelos, New Vicente Guerrero and New General Agustin de Iturbide. The war took 11 years. Independence was declared in the year of 1810, but the war lasted until new 1821.
New Iturbide tried to be the emperor of New Mexico, but the New Mexicans knew better and they revolted. This led to New Guadalupe Victoria to become the first president of New Mexico.
